NAA Graduate Personal Property Appraiser Course
September 6 - September 10 :-I had the personal pleasure and professional reward of sharing a great learning experience with other auctioneers, appraisers and estate planners. The National Auctioneer Association's (NAA) Graduate Personal Property Appraiser 101 and 201 courses were offered in Hatfield, Pa.
The courses are part of an ongoing effort to promote and enhance the profession through the offerings of the NAA Education Institute. The events were hosted by the Sanford Alderfer Auction Company, Inc. Their gracious and capable staff provided the framework for a demanding, intense and information filled five days, the results of which exceeded even the considerable effort we expended trying to keep up with the proceedings.
Staff instructors included Terry Dunning, Ted Maurer, Mike Ivankovich, Bob Lucas, Brent Souder, Charles Moyer and Harry Rinker. These respected professionals offered succinct, condensed presentations emphasizing the highlights of their varied experiences. One could not have asked for greater content in the time allotted. Our hyper-stimulated brains may have hungered for more; but our cerebral synapses would have struggled to digest it.
According to Terry Dunning, as of September 7, 2003 only 190 - 200 individuals in the country have earned the GPPA designation. Having completed the classroom criteria, I will continue to work towards fulfilling the remaining requirements. Without a doubt, the experience gained through participation in the GPPA program will enhance the level of insight and service that I can provide to my clients. I encourage all industry professionals involved in estate planning, auctioneering or appraising to investigate the NAA Education Institute's GPPA program.
