CONTROL OF MOUNTAIN RESORT SKI & GOLF INC., THE CORPORATE OWNER OF ALPINE MOUNTAIN FAMILY SKI & TUBING CENTER, IS TRANSFERRED
Major Capital Improvement Projects are underway. A Summer Concert Series is scheduled to begin in May.
After several months of negotiation, Mountain Resort Ski & Golf Inc. has been sold. The corporation owns and operates Alpine Mountain Family Ski & Tubing Center in Analomink, PA. The new principal officers are Kevin Fabiano Sr. and Kevin (Achilles) Fabiano Jr.. Ownership of the corporation and its assets was transferred on March 28, 2014.
The Fabianos reside in Monroe County where Alpine Mountain is located. They possess legal and accounting backgrounds. Both are accomplished winter sports enthusiasts. Plans are underway to improve and expand the recreational activities available at the resort
“We’re incredibly excited to have the opportunity to develop a first class winter sports experience at Alpine.” said Kevin Fabiano. “It means even more to us because this is our home. We want the citizens of Monroe County to be proud of the facility, its operation and the activities offered at the mountain. Once the improvements are in place, the economic benefit to the community will be significantly enhanced.”
Planned improvements include a complete refurbishing of the lodge, upgrading of the auxiliary buildings, repairs to the existing bridge and parking lot, the opening of four food franchises and the introduction of summer activities at the resort. Those activities will begin this year with live concerts on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day. A Latin Festival is scheduled to take place in August
Of special interest to winter sports fans are plans to construct an ice skating rink and expand the snowboarding area. When completed, the snowboarding park will be among the largest in Pennsylvania. The resort will host three professional snowboarding events during the winter of 2014-15.
Alpine Mountain is one of the oldest continually operating ski areas in the Poconos. The area is a family friendly learn-to-ski destination offering 21 trails of varying difficulty. Night Skiing, terrain park options, snow boarding, snow tubing and skiing/snowboarding lessons are available at the facility.
The ski area was offered at an auction conducted by The Renaissance Auction Group, Reading, PA in September, 2013. The high bid tendered was accepted; however, the successful bidder failed to consummate the sale, forfeiting fees and a deposit in the process. Alpine Mountain opened for business on December 25, 2013 under the existing management.
Pursuing other avenues, Bill Howze, Owner and Principal Auctioneer of the Renaissance Auction Group, secured a new buyer in January of this year. The sale was structured as a transfer of all shares of stock in Mountain Resort Ski & Golf Inc.. It was agreed between the seller and the purchaser that the existing owners would operate the ski area for the 2013–14 season.
“I’m pleased that I was able to guide the transaction to completion” Howze said. “Our seller is satisfied and everyone involved is excited because the new owners have the skills and the capitalization to realize their vision.”
After several years, the cloud of uncertainty hanging over Alpine Mountain has been dispelled. The future of the ski area looks bright. The Fabianos are committed to reviving the resort’s fortunes and penning new chapters in its history.
“Alpine Mountain is an institution in our area” Kevin Fabiano added. “Three generations of families have taught their children to ski on these slopes. We want to ensure that tradition continues well into the future. I’d like to thank Bill Howze for his efforts. He represented his client well while also communicating with us to successfully conclude the negotiations.”
